Funeral service for Vernon “Vern” Geiszler, 56, of Ashley will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 12, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Thomas Carlson and Rev. Linda J. Schauer will officiate.

There will be a prayer service at 7 pm, Thursday with closed casket visitation from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.

Vernon Geiszler, son of William and Hilma (Fiechtner) Geiszler was born March 1, 1959 at Jamestown, ND. He grew up south of Gackle on the family farm, graduating from Gackle High School with the class of 1978. He worked with a custom combining crew and in 1981 he moved to Ashley and worked at Blumhardt Manufacturing in assembly.

Vern was united in marriage to Pam Ulmer on May 15, 1982 in Wishek Congregational Church in Wishek, ND. Over the years Vern lived in Ashley, he was employed by Ashley Public School, Willie’s Service, McIntosh County Courthouse and most recently at Fargo Assembly and as a school bus driver. Vern also enjoyed working part-time at The Roost.

Vern was very active in school activities as a referee, time keeper, activities bus driver, and announcer at sporting events. He was always busy with a job or volunteer activity. He also found the time to enjoy fishing, deer hunting and walking Sheyenne. Vern was very proud of his children and granddaughters, always talking about them and making the time to hear about others families.

Vern was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Ashley Sports Club and a former Ashley City Councilman.

Grateful for having shared Vern’s life are his wife, Pam; daughter, Nicole (Terry Jay) Scherr of Mandan; son, Travis (Reanna) Geiszler of Mandan; three brothers, Harry (Melinda) Geiszler of Brookings, SD, Ron Geiszler of Lincoln, NE and Randy (Laura) Geiszler of Fredonia, ND; sister, Carol Mulske of Ashley and two granddaughters, Mea and Taya Scherr.

Preceding Vern in death were his parents.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Vern’s grandchildren, Mea and Taya and his school bus kids.

Casketbearers will be Vaughn Salzer, Randy Becker, Bruce Speidel, Larry Thurn, Dean Ulmer, Scott Schlepp and Charles Goehring.

The organist will be Donna Heupel and special music by Patty Miller and Sandy Hammarsten.

Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley has been entrusted with arrangements.
