Richard L. "Rick" Black Jr., 39, of 2402 W. Winifred died Saturday, July 29, 2001, at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Born May 10, 1962, in Peoria to Richard L. Sr. and Lena G. Meyers Black, he married Ellen Ott on March 24, 1984, in Seymour, Ind. She survives.

Also surviving are his stepfather and mother, James and Lena Schlipf of Eureka; three daughters, Anna Black, Kimberly Black and Melody Black, all at home; one brother, Brian Schlipf of Eureka; and two sisters, Penny Salemi of Edgewater, Fla., and Kelly Shaffer of Atlanta, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father.

At the time of his death, he was an application engineer for electric power at Caterpillar Inc. Prior to that, he worked for Ryder Truck Rental, AirLand Transport, Weiss Dairy and Waste Management.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Chillicothe Sportsmen's Club and its trap team.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
