Services for Arthur Lee Atkeson, 94, of Parma, who died Sunday, July 19, in a Caldwell nursing home of natural causes, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Parma.
Pastor Mark Stewart of the Treasure Valley Bible Church, Boise, will officiate. Burial will follow at the Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell.
Mr. Atkeson was born Nov. 11, 1892, at Appleton City, Mo. He moved with this family to the Twin Falls area in 1913.
He married Gertrude Z. Ditty in 1915 at Dillon, Mont.
He operated a large cattle ranch near Dillon. From 1936 to 1938, he developed a large block of commercial property at Nyssa, Ore. He opened a real estate office at Nyssa in 1940.
During World War II he worked a the Bremerton, Wash., shipyards. He later farmed and opened a real estate office at Parma until his retirement.
He was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth M. McClaskey of Caldwell, Wanda L. Groot of Parma, Alice M. Noe of Boise and Bonnie Somerville of Texas; two sons, James B. Atkeson of Virginia, and Jack E. Atkeson of California; a sister, Opal McNelly of Pocatello; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1971, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at a Parma Dakan chapel today from 6 to 8 p.m.
