Gerald T. Briles

Gerald Thomas “Jerry” Briles, 67, of Stephens City, VA died Monday, June 8, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Washington, D.C.

Mr. Briles was born in 1948 in Washington, D. C., the son of the late Joseph and Helen Briles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving four tours in Vietnam and attaining the rank of Sergeant. He received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and numerous other medals during his military service. He was a construction worker, a member of the Order of the Purple Heart and a loyal Redskins fan.

Mr. Briles married Lisa M. Briles on December 30, 1989 in Hocking County, Ohio.

Surviving with his wife is a brother, David Briles (Judy) of Bowie Maryland. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joanne Kryder.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home with his father-in-law, Mr. John Maisch officiating, followed by a reception at South Chapel. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
