Cecelia Kramer, 85

EARLING ~ Mrs. Cecelia Kramer of Earling died Saturday at Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan.

Services for Mrs. Kramer, 85, were held Monday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here. Burial was in St. Peter's Cemetery, Defiance.

She is survived by three sons ~ Frank, Jr. of Mesa, Ariz., Gerald of Harlan, and Norbert of Omaha; seven daughters ~ Irene (Mrs. Dale) Friesen of Council Bluffs, Lillian (Mrs. Leo) Schaben of Harlan, Rita (Mrs. Verdy) Klocke of Cascade, Ia., Leona (Mrs. Joe) Bissen of Clarinda, Mary Alice (Mrs. Francis) Heese of Earling, and Theresa (Mrs. Tom) Grote and Dolores (Mrs. Bill) Fuhs, both of Portsmouth.

Also, one brother, Al Schechinger of Harlan; 70 grandchildren, and 68 great grandchildren.

Pauley Funeral Home handled the arrangements in Harlan.

FRANK KRAMER

Cecelia (Schechinger) Kramer born at Westphalia, Iowa in 1896 of Joseph Schechinger and Katie (Katherine) Hennis. Cecelia married Frank Kramer in 1916 and they lived on a farm near Panama, later moving to Defiance. Then lived in Earling for four years and then back to the farm south of Defiance. Later she retired to Earling. To this union were born seventeen children: Irene (Mrs. Dale Friesen), Francis, Raymond, Lawrence, Cecelia, Lillian (Mrs. Leo V. Schaben), Rita (Mrs. LaVertus Klocke), Gerald, Theresa (Mrs. Tom Grote), James, Delores (Mrs. William Fuhs), Leona (Mrs. Joseph M. Bissen), Anthony, Victor, Norbert, Mary Alice (Mrs. Francis H. Heese), and Patricia. Ten children survived and there are 70 grandchildren and 60 great grandchildren. Cecelia lives at the Little Flower Haven.

FRANK KRAMER FAMILY

Frank Kramer's father, Joseph, came from Germany, Province of Westphalia, town of Eseen, and his mother was Mary Book of Elkader, Iowa. To this union eight children were born: Joseph, William, Mary (Mrs. Henry Schmitz), Frank, Carl, Mathilda, Clare (Mrs. Nick Muell) and Mamie, who died as a child.

Cecelia Schechinger was born at Westphalia in 1896, daughter of Joseph and "Kate" Katherine Hennis Schechinger. Her brother and sisters are: Barbara (Mrs. Charles Wageman), John, Cunnie (Mrs. George Henkelman) and Katie (Mrs. Ed Henkelman).

Frank Kramer and Cecelia Schechinger were married in 1916 and lived on a farm near Panama, later moving to Defiance. They moved to Earling for four years and then moved back to a farm south of Defiance in 1927. Frank died in 1957.

To this union 17 children were born: Irene, born in 1917, graduated 1935 and married Dale Friesen in 1946; seven children: Francis born in 1919, completed 8th grade, married in 1941, 5 children; Raymond, born in 1920, died at age two years; Lawrence, born in 1921, died at age 14 years; Cecelia, born in 1922, died at birth; Lillian, born in 1923, completed l0th grade, married Leo Schaben in 1943, seven children; Rita, born in 1925, graduated 1943, married Lavertus Klocke in 1947, six children; Gerald, born in 1927, completed 9th grade, married Alma Rau 1949, six children; Theresa, born in 1928, graduated 1946, married Tom Grote in 1950, 11 children; James, born in 1929, died at birth; Delores, born in 1930, completed 9th grade, married William Fuhs in 1953, 11 children; Leona, born in 1932, graduated 1050, married Joseph M. Bissen in 1954, seven children; Anthony, born in 1933, died at age three months; Victor, born in 1934, graduated 1953, died in 1958; Norbert, born in 1936,'graduated 1955, married Marlene Erlbacher 1960, four children; Mary Alice, born in 1938, graduated 1956, married Francis Heese 1961, six children; and Patricia, born in 1940, died at birth.

Ten children survive and there are 70 grandchildren and 67 great~grandchildren. Cecelia lived at the Little Flower Haven, Earling, until her death, October 24, 1981.

Mary Lou (Mrs. Dennis Arkfeld) and Julia (Mrs. William Theulen) are children of Theresa Kramer Grote and they live in Defiance.
