CALDWELL— Services for Mrs. Vera H. Schmidt, 70, of 121 W. Hazel, Caldwell, who died Wednesday in a Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel.
Officiating will be the Rev. Rollin Schaleger of the Grace Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Schmidt was born Oct. 21, 1900, at Pegram in Washington County, and moved with her parents to Goodrich where her father operated a sawmill when she was a small child. The family homesteaded a farm in the Sunny Slope community when she was a girl. She was married Mary 27, 1918, in Caldwell to Henry P. Schmidt Sr., and they farmed in the Caldwell vicinity. Mr. Schmidt died Jan. 15, 1952, in Caldwell.
She was a licensed practical nurse who had worked in the profession for 35 years. She began her career at the old Caldwell Memorial Hospital and worked there until it closed. She worked at the Caldwell Sanitarium until it closed prior to the opening of the present Caldwell Memorial Hospital. She continued at the new hospital until ill health forced her to retire six years ago.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Idaho Licensed Practical Nurses Association.
Surviving are three sons, Henry P. Schmidt Jr., of Garden Grove, Calif., and Joseph F. and Horrace Dale Schmidt, both of Caldwell, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Horrace, and a sister, Mrs. Wroten.
