Marie A. Duncan, a long-time resident of Cannon Falls, died peacefully Friday, June 5 at her home after a battle with cancer.
She was born in Cannon Falls on April 15, 1938 to Erb and Pearl Johnson. She attended Cannon Falls Public Schools and graduated with honors.
In1958 she married Archie H. Duncan. They were married for 53 years and resided on his grandparents' farm since 1966.
Marie was a former employee of Northwest Airlines and Josten's. She later changed her career path and worked in the medical field.
Marie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister. She is survived by two daughters, Deanna Duncan-Parduhn of Burnsville, Nicole (Tim) Bergeson of Cannon Falls; grandchildren Justin Bergeson (Katie Beebe) of Cannon Falls and Britney Bergeson of Cannon Falls; siblings Clareen (Harold) Wells of Robertsdale, AL, George (Jolene) Johnson of Corsica, SD, Darold (Charlotte) Safe of Cannon Falls, Sandra Rooney of Webb Lake, WI, Patricia (Jeff) Paulson of Lakeville, and sister-in-law Bonnie Safe of Savage.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was very proud of her grandchildren. Many commented on her sweet spirit and she will be sadly missed by those who loved her.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Archie Duncan and sibling Dennis Safe.
Funeral services will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Lane 1, at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10. Memorials are preferred to go to the American Cancer Society.
