August Brill lived to be 64y, 6m, 1d. His occupation was previously a sailor. He died July 27, 1886 at 11 p.m. in Hamilton Township from pericarditis, which he had suffered from the final two weeks of his life. He was buried July 28th in the Brown Graveyard. He was a widower and identified himself as Prussian, born in Germany.

BRILL--At the house of his son, in Harrison County, Missouri, July 27th, 1886 of disease of the heart, Mr. August Brill, aged 64 years and 6 months. He was born near Berlin, Prussia, came to America in 1865, living eleven years near Chicago and in Streator, Illinois, and the past ten years in the neighborhood where he died and with his son-in-law, Bro. Lewis A. Fowler, in Lamoni. His wife died nine years ago. He leaves three sons and two daughters. He was a Lutheran in faith and lived a moral and upright life, orderly and peaceful in his ways, according to his understanding of his profession. He fell asleep as quietly as does a child. Funeral sermon by Elder Henry A. Stebbins.
