Dies at Caldwell

CALDWELL (Special) — Gerald A. Snyder, 42, of 1305 Everett street, a Caldwell businessman, died Sunday morning at a Caldwell hospital.
Mr. Snyder was born Sept. 25, 1910 at Bellgrade, Mont. He came to Caldwell from Bozeman, Mont. in 1936 and became associated with the Garber Motor company. He enlisted in the army during World war II and later was presented the soldiers Medal by Gen. Mark Clark for heroism in France Nov. 17, 1944. The award was made in Boise after the war ended.
Mr. Snyder was secretary of the Caldwell Memorial Hospital association for one year following his discharge from the army. In 1949 he bought part interest in the Garber Motor company and served as secretary of the corporation and sales manager until his death.
He was a past president of the Caldwell Junior Chamber of Commerce, a past president of the Caldwell Businessman's association and a past exalted ruler of the Caldwell Elks lodge No. 1448. He was a member of the Elks board of trustees.
Mr. Snyder married Ardis McConnell in Caldwell on July 11, 1948.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ardis Snyder of Caldwell; a daughter, Susan Marie Snyder of Caldwell; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Snyder of Bozeman; two brothers, Wayne Snyder of Moscow. and Irving Snyder of Bellgrade, and a sister, Mrs. Ivy Hays, Whittier, Cal.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. at the Peckham-Dakan chapel in Caldwell with the Rev. Murl Jones officiating. Interment will be at Canyon Hill with Caldwell Elks lodge No. 1448 conducting grave side services.
