Abbott Draper Gerberich, 87, Pearisburg, Va., and formerly of Lebanon, died on Jan. 3, in his home.

He was the husband of the late Ann Strader Gerberich and served as postmaster for the Pearisburg area from 1936 to 1960. Although he moved to Virginia in 1912, he often returned to visit Lebanon friends.

He is survived by one sister, Josephine Anderson, United Methodist home, Roanoke, VA.

In February, 1906, he accepted a position with the Virginia Iron & Coke Co. at Barren Springs, Va., as clerk in their store. He was transferred to Fosters Falls, Va., in the same capacity, in April, 1907, and in 1908 he
accepted the position of manager of the company's store at Barren Springs. From 1910 to 1912 he held a similar post at Pulaski, Va. In 1912 he entered the firm of H. B. Shelton Co., at Pearisburg, Va. Mr. Gerberich is at present Secretary and Treasurer of the H. B. Shelton Co., Inc., of Pearisburg, Va. He is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and a member of the Giles Lodge, No. 106, A.F. & A.M., and of Pearisburg Royal Arch Chapter No. 29. During 1924 and 1925 he was High Priest for this chapter and also District Deputy Grand High Priest for his district.
