Application was made to Judge Peries today for the administration of the estate of the late Abner S Barndt, who, according to the petition, "left no widow, no children, no parents, no brothers, no sisters, no uncles, and no aunts," only first cousins. Mr Barndt was a bachelor, and lived on a farm in the town of Granville. Of his estate the personal property is valued at $175,000, while the real estate is rated at $30,000. The first cousins, who are the only heirs, are the following: Nelson Barndt, J.F. Keeler, S. Horning, Lydia Barndt, Frank Wambold, David Barndt, Estelle Sheldon, C.F. Henrizl, Charles A Barndt, W. Boorse, Milton J Scholl, Jonas A Schlafer, Samuel S Slifer, Hattie Keeler, and William Droegkamp. Mr Barndt died without leaving a will.
Note: Mary Cline was NOT Abner's wife. Some researchers assume she was because she appeared in a census record. In Mary's probate records in Milwaukee County (in a statement by Mabel Barndt, image 386 on ancestry) it states that Mary never married and had no children, biological or adopted. She was Abner Barndt's live-in housekeeper in Granville for about 22 years until his death in 1899. Abner was a bachelor. See Mary Cline's FaG entry in this cemetery for more information.

Weep not that his toils are o'er
Weep not that his race is run
God grant we may rest as calmly
When our work like his is done.
