Dee Hawkins, Jr., 82, passed away, Monday June 8, 2015. He was born September 23, 1932 in Nash County to the late Dee and Sally Wheeless Hawkins. Dee had many careers thru out his life; He worked for Henderson Yarns for 30 years, Lowes Food Store for 8 years and Nash County Solid Waste Control Site 9 for 13 years. Dee loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed many hobbies; raising cattle, fishing and sold firewood on the side. He loved Castalia Church of God, and loved his pastor and church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son; Kenneth Hawkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Barbara Hawkins, two sons; Jonathan Hawkins of the home and Dennis Hawkins of Alabama; two step-sons; Dennis and David Williamson of Nashville; one daughter, Leda Ann Colie of La Grange, NC; best friend, Ronnie Murray; grandchildren, Candy, Crystal, Hope, Amber, Jessica, Heather, Katie and Joshua; great-grandchildren; Kensie, Dustin, Aaron, Alipsa, Caiden, Natalie, Kelsey, Nicholas, Trevor, Logan, Audrey and Waylon; great-great grandchild, Trinity.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral Home of Nashville. Funeral service will be held, Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Piper, Sr. and Rev. Robert Piper, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
