Russell Jesse Kyger, 78, a resident of Dana Route 1 for 42 years, died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday May 11, 1983 at
Lakeview Medical Center, Danville, Ill. He had been a patient since May 8.

A retired coalminer, he had been employed at General Motors Central Foundry in Danville and DuPont in Newport. He also had farmed.

He served as a lay leader of Number 11 Mission for several years. He enjoyed gardening and raising livestock.

Born July 22, 1904, in Grape Creek, Ill., he was the son of Jesse and Lucinda (Trosper) Kyger. On Sept. 28, 1925, in Danville, he married Mable Craft, who survives.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Francis Fleck of Cayuga Route 1, Margery Seibold of Veedersburg and Beverly Jones of Dana Route 1; two sons, Rev. Cloyd Kyger of Ridge Farm, Ill., and Frank of Chatham, Ill.: a sister, Lillie Adams of Covington; 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and a daughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Number 11 Mission on Dana Route 1. The Rev. Virgil Russell, Rev. Joseph Youmans and Rev. Jack Wilburn will officiate. Burial will be in Thomas Cemetery near Newport, Ind. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. Friday at the DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga.
