Arthur “Ace” Houghton Jones, Jr., 89, of Conroe, formerly of Navasota, died Monday, June 1, 2015 at his home in Wellington Assisted Living in Conroe. A gathering of family and friends was held from 1:30 to 3:00 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home of Navasota. A celebration of his life followed at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home with Pastor C. McAllister “Mac” Vaughn of First United Methodist Church officiating. Private interment took place in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Ace was born September 23, 1925 in in Bartlett, Texas to Arthur H. and Inez Turner Jones, Sr. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. It was on May 14, 1948 that he married Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Johnston. Ace retired from the oil and gas industry and he and Betty moved to Navasota in 1991 where they were members of First United Methodist Church. After Betty’s death in 2011, he moved to Conroe. In his retirement Ace enjoyed fishing as well as some hunting. He participated in every activity that might have been going on at Wellington and will be missed by all of his fellow residents and staff. Survivors include his daughters, Linda Jones Burchfield and husband, Donald Ray Jr., of Shenandoah, TX, Judy Jones McLeod and husband, David, of College Station and Teresa Jones Canon and husband, Gary, of Houston; a brother, Bennie Jones of Leander, TX; grandchildren, Victoria Lee Burchfield, Rebecca Burchfield DiPiero and husband, Anthony Wayne and Donald Ray Burchfield, III, Samantha McLeod, Jennifer McLeod and husband, Tony Murillo and Nicholas Canon and great grandchildren, Vincent Houghton and Dominic Anthony DiPiero and Chelsea, Jacob and Alyssa Murillo.
