Woodrow was born in Algood, TN on November 18, 1916 to the late Willie Lee and Lou Anna Riddle Walker .

Walker was a retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer whose specialty was aviation. He served in WWII and the Korean Conflict from 1939 until 1959.

Following his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid airplane enthusiast.

Woodrow was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Malphrus Walker and one brother, Thurlow Walker .
