Mother: Elisabeth Eugenie Sel Hatrel. Born in 1780 at Jean-Rabel, Saint-Domingue (Haiti), died Jan. 28, 1838 in New Orleans. Married in 1797 in Saint-Domingue.

In Saint-Domingue, the families are landowners, planters of coffee, indigo and sugar crops. Also, civil servants and officers in the local French militia. Fled to Cuba in the early 1800's, finally arriving in New Orleans around 1809 and settling in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood.
