Ferguson (went by Forg) (was his middle name Nelson?) Chitty was the second of twelve known children of Joseph Nelson Chitty (1770-1826) and his third (or fourth?) known wife, Rebecca Vest (1790-1868) who married c1807 at presumably Kentucky. Joseph was first married to Anne Marie Krause (1773-1792) on 12 Jun 1792 at Stokes (now Forsyth?) County, North Carolina with no known children. After Anne died, Joseph remarried to Mary Ann Layton (???-???) on 23 Nov 1795 at Stokes (now Forsyth?) County, North Carolina with three known children. After Ann died, did Joseph marry to a Miss or Mrs. Black with one child?

Forg first married to Esther/Easter Green (1820-1842) on 25 Mar 1839 at Lawrence County, Indiana with no known children. After Esther died, Forg remarried to Ann Mayden/Maiden (c1824-???) on 09 Jul 1842 at Bedford, Lawrence County, Indiana with one known child, namely:

In 1850 Ferguson and Susan were living alone at Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois. In 1860 Ferguson, Susan, Jacob Brenner (age 21, who was this? a farm hand?), Rachael J. (age 16), Mary Ann Chitty (age 9), John F. Chitty (age 7), Catharine Chitty (age 5), Jane Chitty (age 1) and Ben Chitty (no age given) were living at Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois. In 1870 Ferguson, Susan, John (age 17), Katrina (age 15), Ben (age 13), Cynthia (age 12), Isadora (age 9), Martha (age 7), Florence (age 5) and James (age 2) were living at Cherry Grove, Carroll County, Illinois. In 1880 Ferguson and Mary were living at Atlanta, Rice County, Kansas.
