Ill for about three years, Peter J. Simon, 78, almost a life long resident of this city, died of a stroke at Milwaukee Tuesday. The body was brought to the Hahn chapel here and funeral services were conducted Thursday morning at St. Joseph's Church where he was a long member and took an active part in the work of the Catholic Order of Foresters; Holy Name Society and Catholic Knights.
Pallbearers were Clemence and Bernard Fehring and Walter, Edward, Robert and Anton Simon, all nephews. Burial was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, beside the body of his wife who died some years ago.
Mr. Simon was a native of West Bend, Wisconsin, born October 19, 1866 to Valentine and Anna Simon.
He came to Door County when about 16 years of age and worked as a bookkeeper for the L.M. Washburn Company for over 50 years before his retirement. He was married her in 1893.
