GARDINER, Dec. 5---- Dewey Glidden, five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Glidden of Coopers Mills, who received a fractured skull when struck by a semi-trailer truck in Coopers Mills Friday, died at the Gardiner General Hospital here this morning. The boy was on his way home from school with other school children who were playing along the left side of the highway when he was struck.

Charles N. Hall of Dover-Foxcroft, driver of the truck, which was loaded with logs and proceeding up a hill on Route 32, told investigating officers he drove far to the left to avoid hitting the children and the boy ran into the highway striking the right side of the cab. The child was taken to the office of Dr. J. E. Odiorne in Coopers Mills who said he had a fractured skull. He was then taken to the Gardiner General Hospital.

Trooper Stanley Poland of the Maine State Police, investigated and said there was no speed involved since the truck was heavily loaded and was going up the hill.

The boy was the son of Raymond and Florence (Hannon) Glidden, and was the youngest of four children. He was born in July, 1938, and besides his parents leaves two brothers, Richard and Neil, a sister, Geraldine, his maternal grandmother. Mrs. Abbie Hannon, of Montville, and several uncles, aunts and cousins.
