Dale married Marian June Allerton, Nov. 17, 1946.
Mr. Covert was a psychiatric technician for Napa State Hospital for 30 years .
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June; his daughter, Leslie Flory of Napa; his sons, Byron Covert of Laughlin, Nev., and David Covert of Santa Rosa; three grandsons, and one granddaughter.

Dale Dolphus was born to Louis D. & Sada A. (VanDeusen) Pierce in 1917 in Bouwman County, North Dakota. He was given the name Virgil L. Pierce.
His mother died, just a few months after his birth. He went to live with his aunt and uncle, Byron F. & Mabel A. (VanDeusen) Covert in Battle Creek, Michigan. After his adoption, he was renamed Dale Dolphus Covert.
