"Adalaide Annette Howerton, 77, of Rt. 2, Rutledge, died Sunday, Jan. 23, at her home after a brief illness.
A native of Claiborne County, she was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Mollie Henegar; husband, John. H. Howerton; nine brothers and one sister.
She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church at Bean Station where she taught the adult ladies Sunday School class.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Raymond Jordan of Nashville and Dianne and Jim Hartsfield of Morristown; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Claudette Howerton of Elizabethton, Richard and Geneva Howerton of Dandridge and Ed and Gail Howerton of Rutledge; a sister, Zola Liford of Tazewell; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held Monday at 8 p.m. at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown with Rev. Frank Spoon officiating.
Graveside services were Tuesday morning in Helton Cemetery."
