William Anthony Mulvehill was born in Jackson County, IA, to Thomas and Elizabeth (Magner) Mulvehill. Both of his parents were of Irish Catholic descent. William's birth date is contested; his obituary gives March 25, 1866; the SSA lists March 25, 1867; but multiple censuses give his birth year as closer to 1869-1875. He married Cora Olsen in 1907 in Wakonda, SD. They farmed near that area until they retired to Yankton in 1941. After Cora's death in 1945, William moved in with his daughter in Sioux Falls. He died in the hospital there on the morning of October 1, 1962, at about 96 years of age.
