Mrs. Elizabeth Deal McKanna, age 95, died Thursday evening, June 4, 2015, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice House in Statesboro.

Elizabeth was born in Bulloch County in 1919 to the late Horace B. and Dicia Allen Deal. She graduated from Westside School in 1938 and moved to Ohio, where she resided with her sister until 1950. Returning to Bulloch County she began a 26 year career with Cari Classics in Portal, as a seamstress.

She had a love for gardening, especially growing and caring for her flowers at her home in Portal. Her greatest love was that of her family. She enjoyed many years of cooking and caring for them. She had been a resident of Eagle Health and Rehab for several years where her care for others continued, as she thought she needed to help care for other residents as well as her flowers and vegetables that she potted.

Elizabeth was a long-time member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church where she loved the time spent fellowshipping with her church family.

Mrs. McKanna was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Willis McKanna and a son Terry McKanna.
