Member of C Company, Cobb's Legion (Infantry) Samuel "Sammy" contracted measles and then pneumonia which caused his death at Yorktown VA. His body was brought home by his younger brother, David Boozer Chupp, also a member of Co. C, Cobb's Legion. Samuel was buried in the first metal casket in this region of DeKalb and people came from miles around to see it.
