David Edward Broome, 73, of Leicester, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at Mission Hospital.

A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late William Edward Broome, Jr., and Doris Lillie McGee Broome. He worked as a Sales Representative for the Electric Supply Co. of Asheville, and retired following 42 years of service.

At an early age, David and his brothers, along with Grandad McGee, developed a love of horses that continued throughout his life. He spent much of his leisure time in Shelbyville, TN enjoying the Tennessee Walking Horse and "The Celebration" with his family and friends.

While traveling throughout the U.S. and other countries, David, along with family and friends, admired the beauty of the earth and enjoyed gardening and working in his yard.

David had a deep love for God, his family, and friends. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church, and attended Leicester Baptist Church. He was a Mason and member of the Mt. Herman Lodge.

David is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Dolores Roberts Broome; son, Michael Broome and wife Candy; grandchildren and "the apple of his eyes", Cassada and Jarrett; brothers Donald M. Broome and wife Sharon of Rogersville, TN, and Douglas W. Broome and wife Gerry of Leicester; and three aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave., with the Rev. Dr. Stan Welch and the Rev. Chad Ellege officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Asheville Cardiology and the ICCU at Memorial Mission Hospital.
