Shirley was born in Delware County, Iowa to A.T. and Stella (Delano) Bishop on August 17, 1923. She passed away on May 10, 2015

She was the first Dallas County female to join the Navy during WWII. Shirley was extremely proud of the time she spent as an aviation mechanic mate 3rd class of the United States Navy Waves.

Her love of handwork gave her family and friends many afghans, quilts, caps, and tablecloths to cherish. Many of the items she designed.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, 2 sisters, 2 sons, and 1 granddaughter.

Memorial Service for Shirley Bass will be in the Montgomery-Viets Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday May 17, 2015

Private burial service will be held at a later date.
