Born July 8, 1922 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Charles Franklin Bowen and Minnie Mary Hinckley. Jeanne's family moved to Manhattan when she was six years old. They later moved to Flushing, New York, where she graduated a year early from high school.
On her seventeenth birthday, Jeanne and her parents sailed out of New York Harbor to Hawaii so her father, a retired geologist with Standard Oil could study the geology of the islands. Jeanne spent her freshman year of college at the University of Hawaii.
After a year, her family moved to Salt Lake City, where she graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Home Economics in 1943. Jeanne served a full-time mission to the French mission from 1949-1951.
In 1953, she married Dennis Olsen of Cardston, Alberta, Canada in the Salt Lake Temple. Jeanne also lived in Spokane, Washington; San Jose, California; and Bellevue, Washington.
Jeanne was a temple worker in the Seattle Temple for many years. She left Washington to serve a full time family history mission in Salt Lake City from 1987-1989. After her mission, she moved to Salt Lake City to work on family history.
Jeanne served faithfully in the LDS Church as a Primary President, Relief Society President, and Chorister, but most often served as a church Family History Consultant. She was a longtime member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
Jeanne loved family, music, tulips, and never turned down chocolate.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Craig (Linda) of San Luis Obispo, California; Brent of Bothell, Washington; and Stacey Griffith (Les) of Gilbert; thirteen grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held following the viewing at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
