Unites States Army Master Sargent Neil Jay Morrison died at his home in Fountain on Friday, May 29, 2015. He was 38.

Neil was born in Omaha, Neb. on March 1, 1977, the third son of Louis and Pauline. He was the adored younger brother of Louie and Mike.

Days after graduating from Lebanon High School in 1995 Neil became a soldier. Neil’s incredible intellect and attention to detail allowed him to serve as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialist. After his initial training he was stationed in Alaska, followed by time in San Diego. His next post at Fort Carson in Colorado became his home. Anticipating his son’s birth and wanting to remain stateside he took an assignment at Fort Lee in Virginia returning to Colorado in 2014 to finish his career. Neil served his country all over the world doing extended deployments in Southeast Asia, Bosnia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea and special details in the United States.

Survivors include his parents, Louis and Rita Morrison of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and John and Pauline Liss of Newburyport, Mass.; his young son, Orion Morrison of Fountain and stepdaughter, Morgan King of Lebanon; siblings, Lou and Kendall Morrison of Crossville, Tenn., Michael and Anissa Morrison of Tunbridge, Stephen Liss and Joanna Smith of Plymouth, Mass., Erik and Erika LaVallee of Sheffield, Vt., Jim and Angela Heikes of Murfreesboro and Tracy and Tony Wallace of Calif.; nephews and nieces, Chase, Aidan, Aza and Poppy Morrison of Tenn. and Trenton, Camden and Thatcher Morrison of Tunbridge, Nora LaVallee, Kaitlin and Cody Heikes, and Austin Wallace.
