Francis Marion Meek is the son of Jeremiah Meek and Jane Dunlap. Francis Marion Meek was born on March 1, 1843, in Carroll county. He enlisted with his brother, James Monroe, in Co. E, Hill's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry, at Carrollton in 1861 and was captured and paroled at Port Hudson, La., in July, 1863.

If he served in the Confederate Army thereafter, there is no record of his service. Nancy Ellen Parker, daughter of John and Catharine Parker of Carroll County, married one of the Meek brothers about 1867, and had a child, Amanda (Mandy) Jane Meek in 1869 in Arkansas. The only logical brother for her to have married was Francis Marion Meek. Ollie Littrell Stanhope, a niece said Nancy Ellen married Francis. Nancy was born in 1848 in Kentucky. Francis Marion went to Texas and in 1870 lived with his brother William, in Limestone County. He married Martha Jane Favors about 1872, probably in Limestone county. she was born in Harrison County, Texas, daughter of Hartwell and Nicy Fortner Favors and died in January 9, 1920, near Natural Dam, Crawford County, Arkansas as Mrs. John R. Collins. She married John October 1, 1917 in Crawford County. She is buried at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam. Francis Marion died December 6, 1905 in Newton County, ARkansas., and is buried in the Meek Family Cemetery at Coin, Arkansas. The Meeks lived in Atascosa County, Texas in the 1870s and 1880s and about 1886 the the family moved back to Carroll County. They lived at Bokhoma, Oklahoma in 1902.

Children of Francis Marion and Martha Jane Favors Meek are Susan Alice born February 28, 1874, Atascosa County, Texas, and married James Crittenton Stanphill, December 9, 1888 in Carroll County, ARkansas. James died in 1943, Carrollton, and is buried in Ward Cemetery in Carroll County: George Rufus Meek was born January 30, 1876, in Atascosa County, Texas and married Viola Belle Tudor about 1914 in Crawford County, ARkansas., and died October 15, 1955 in Terrell, Texas, buried at Union Church Cemetery, Lamar County Texas;

Martha Annie Frances Meek was born March 4, 1877 in Antacosa County, Texas, married Oscus S. (Ossie) Collins, March 11, 1896, who died October 25, 1924 in Oakes, Oklahoma; married second William Augustus King September 4, 1935, Paris Texas, they divorced; and she married third Joe Eaker August 7, 1937, in Lamar county Texas, Martha Annie Frances Meek died December 13, 1950, Glory, Lamar, and is buried Antioch Cemetery, Lamar County: Sarah M. (Sally) Meek was born March 19, 1880, Atacosa County, Texas, married Charley Joseph (Joe) Gage on May 29, 1898 in Carroll County, Arkansas on October 1, 1965 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas and is buried at Shady Grove Cemetery in Lamar County: James Alfred Moses Meek was born July 4, 1884, Atascosa County, Texas and married Martha Leona Baze, October 11, 1902, near Mead, Bryan County, Indian Territory, Oklahoma and died January 30, 1920, in Greer Oklahoma and is buried at Center Point Cemetery in Mangum, Oklahoma: Rosie Meek was born December 4, 1885, Atascosa County, Texas to Pink Titsworth about 1902 in Oklahoma. Rosie died May 27, 1965, Oklahoma, buried at Bokhoma Cemetery near Moon, Oklahoma.

Jane Dunlap was born Oct. 15, 1811, Illinoise She and Jeremiah Meek were married Dec. 31, 1829, Henry County, Tenn.
He was born Dec. 25, 1806, Tenn.,Son of Jeremiah and Betsy Blevins Meek. They moved from Henry County to Carroll Co. in the l830s (a child was born in Tennessee in 1835 and the next child was born in Arkansas April 5, 1839). They lived Osage Township,' Carroll Co., in 1840 and farmed in Carrollton Township in 1850.
Very early the Meek family owned land north of Carrollton. Their original home stood at the foot of a hill on the main road from the White River to Carrollton. On May 1, 1845, Jeremiah Meek recieved a U.S. patent for a portion of land that made up part of the eventual total of 295 acres. Jeremiah Meek died May 24, 1856, and was buried at the Meek family cemetery on the Meek place now in the Coin community. His grave likely was the first in the now neglected cemetery a hundred feet or so east of a county road in a black locust grove on the Sam Fry place. Jane died Dec. 2, 1875, in Carrollton Township and was buried in the family cemetery.

From an old Historical County paper: At the Meek family cemetery on the old Meek place at Coin, Arkansas, there are several graves marked with native stones at the latter cemetery, but only one legible tombstone (that of Francis Marion Meek.)
