"The George Stetzel family migrated from Pennsylvania to Johnson County, Iowa, near North Liberty. George Stetzel's wife was Catherine Albright, third child of Matthew Matthias Albright. She was born February 24, 1859" [Her gravestone gives her birth date as August 5, 1841]. "Mr. Stetzel bought land near North Liberty and began the laborous work of building a home and stable to shelter the horses and sheds for cattle and hogs. Then he began the task of whacking out scrub trees and brush in order to clear the productive land to plant corn, wheat and other grains. His two oldest sons, Henry and Daniel, worked along with him and became reliable workers. All sixteen children, ten daughters and six sons, were born in Johnson County."...
Reverend Jab Yabby, a friend of the Stetzel family, acquired land in Douglas township, Audubon County for families to settle on. George bought one of these farms and then added more later. They organized church worship services and a Sunday school, and held those in the Rose Hill School. Daniel and his wife Sadie had taught school eight years. They were married 1 Jan. 1896.
"Daniel Stetzel, who married Sadie Miller, had five children, three sons and two daughters. The youngest daughter died, and shortly after, Dan sold the farm and shipping the six head of horses, feed for them, and household items and machinery, moved to Warner, Alberta, Canada. In August, he packed up their possessions, shipped the furniture by freight, and headed back to Iowa."
