Daniel Webster McLaughlin was the son of Henry and Nancy Tunnell McLaughlin. He was born May 1 1847 near Murrayville, Morgan Co, IL and died May 15, 1915 at Rose Hill, Butler, KS.

He married Mary J Gosnell Oct 17, 1867 at Greenefield, Greene, IL. They had eleven children: one son-Willie Crary, and ten daughters--Linnie Belle, Jessie, Georgia, Carrie Edith, Katie, Olive, Blanche, Florence Mae, Mary Edna, and Ruth.

Daniel McLaughlin of Murrayville, Morgan, IL, age 18, Pvt Co C 145th IL Inf; enlisted 7 May 1865 at Jacksonville, IL by RC Crampton for 100 days, mustered in 9 Jun 1864 at Camp Butler, IL, mustered out 23 Sep 1864 at Camp Butler, IL by Lt Montgomery.

Between 1880 and 1885 the family moved to Kansas. Four daughters reached their maturity: Carrie, Florence, Edna, and Ruth.
