WEDDING.--On Thursday, the 2d inst, at the Baptist church in Independence, Rev. Dr. Crane married Mr. Thomas H. Lipscomb to Miss Bettie Johnson and Mr. W. T. Hunt to Miss Mary L. Styles. After the ceremony the happy couples repaired to the residence of Dr. Styles, in Independence, where refreshments were served. In the evening a party was given at the residence of Mr. John Hunt, at Gay Hill, the home of both of the groomsmen.

T. H. Lipscomb Dead from the Effects of a Pistol Wound.
Brenham, Texas, July 29.--Mr. T. H. Lipscomb, of Independence died at his home in that place at 10 o'clock Monday morning, from the effects of a pistol bullet in his head which he put there July 18. Mr. Lipscomb was a descendant of a distinguished family, born and raised in this county. He was partially educated at the Presbyterian school taught at Gay Hill by Mr. Miller and finished his education at Baylor university of Independence. He took the law course there and was admitted to the bar, but after a few years of practice retired from it to his farm and has followed the occupation of farmer up to the time of his death. He was married to Miss Bettie Johnson and to them have been born a number of children who with the wife survive him. He was about 48 years of age, and had been in bad health for a long time, afflicted with a case of dyspepsia from the effects of which he could either eat nor sleep.
