Helen Allison Foster went to be with her Lord during the early morning hours of May 27, 2015. She was 96 years old. She was sharing a home with her only child, Rebecca A. Couk and her Son-In-Law, Randall L. Couk, Sr. She had been active and quite independent until just the past few weeks.

She was born Helen Janette Madison in Belton, Texas on October 12, 1918 to Perry Benjamin and Amanda Jane Madison. Helen was the youngest of their five children; having two brothers and two sisters who all predeceased her. Helen graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Texas for three years before she married Richard Earl Allison, Jr. in 1938. They made their home in Texas in San Antonio, Corpus Christi and Austin mostly. When their daughter, Becca married and had three children they all lived in Corpus Christi and spent lots of weekends camping out on Padre Island and fishing in the surf and on Bob Hall Pier. Richard died in 1969 at age 50 and then Helen moved from Corpus Christi to Austin to be near her family. She enjoyed living with Richard's parents and worked at The State of Texas Comptroller's office for 10 years before she retired. She drove to Houston to see Becca and her Grandchildren on a regular basis and was a real fan of their softball and baseball teams. She became a fan of the Houston Astros and Oilers at that time and continued to follow them and other teams for the rest of her life. She married her widower brother-in-law, Edwin Earl Foster in 1984. Helen was widowed again when Edwin died in 1997.

She enjoyed playing Bridge with her Granddaughter, Jan, and friends every other week for the past couple of years. Over the years she has played many hours of Bridge with her sisters and brother and sister-in-law. She also liked outdoor activities, from her years in the Girl Scouts of America that lasted through high school to the RV camping trips she took with her daughter and Son-In-Law. She made it an annual tradition to take pictures with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the bluebonnets and pick peaches off the trees in Fredericksburg. Christmas was a favorite time for Helen, besides driving out to see the Christmas lights, she always loaded the tree with presents that she so enjoyed buying and wrapping for her family. In her later years she ordered the biggest sports package the satellite provider offered so she could watch baseball, basketball, football, and especially tennis and loved to discuss sports with her family and friends. Helen was outgoing and always counted it a joy to be with her friends and family. She was a very generous person and loved to help those who were in need. She especially loved and cared for her family.

She was very fondly known as Memommie to her three Grandchildren: Jan Shope, Linda Collins and Tom Collins (wife, Cyndi Fleming); and is also survived by her Step Grandaughter-In-Law, Elizabeth Couk. As well as her Great-grandchildren: Joelle Barnes (husband, James Barnes), Jacob Brochtrup, Step Great- Grandchildren, Savannah Couk, and Claire Fleming and the newest one, Cooper Barnes her Great- Great Grandson. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.

Helen had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and during her lifetime; attended and belonged to several churches including The Central Christian Church, and Westlake Bible Church in Austin. Also, Fellowship Baptist Church in Marble Falls and Pedernales River Fellowship and currently Spicewood Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, Texas 78734.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel. Interment will be held at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Blvd. in Austin.
