Irma R. Lowry, 87, of Hooker died Tuesday, April 4, 2000 at her home.

Irma Ruth Fox was born September 28, 1912 in Marion, KS, the daughter of Albert Friedrich and Ida Sue Scott Fox, moving with her parents and two brothers to the Hooker area where she attended the Buffalo School.

During high school she boarded at Dick Mason's Rooming House and graduated with the Hooker High School Class of 1930.

On August 11, 1933 she was married to Ray Quay Lowry. They made their home and farmed in the Hooker area. One of her greatest joys was her work with the public as she worked for Mike Grey at Grey's Drug and Al Chill at McDonald's clothing store main street, Guymon, Oklahoma.

She was on the Optima Election Board and served longer than any other at that time. She was active in the PTA and all her children's school activities. Irma loved helping friends or family plan a party. She would often provide the specially made mints for wedding showers, while her butterhorn crescent rolls were in great demand beside the ham loaf at family get togethers.

Irma helped provide 100 quilts each year for the Cal Farley Boy's Ranch along with the Range community. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

One of Irma's greatest joys was the birth of her granddaughter, Marquita. Dressing her in new outfits and planning surprises for her was her delight.

Those preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Ray on April 11, 1998 and her two brothers, John and Fred Fox.

Survivors include her son, George and Kay Lowry of Hooker; her daughter, Irma Jean Eufinger of Oklahoma City; sister, Ulah Mae Blackwelder of Hooker; one granddaughter, Marquita and Art Carroll of Taos, NM; two great grandchildren, Michael James and Adalynn Katrina Carroll; and her nephews and nieces and their families.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, April 8, 2000 at the United Methodist Church in Hooker with Rev. Donald Calvert of the Hardesty United Methodist Church officiating.
