November 17, 1936 - April 11, 2015

Larry F. Alder, 78, of Logansport, passed away unexpectedly at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, in his home.

Born November 17, 1936, in Logansport, he was the son of the late R. Wayne and Martha Nell (Wissinger) Alder.

On March 5, 1955, in Logansport Church of Christ, he was married to Janice F. (Layne) Alder. The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage last year. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2014.

Larry was a graduate of Logansport High School. He was a professional meat cutter for 53 years and retired from Martin's Supermarket where he had worked as the manager of the meat department.

Larry attended Pisgah Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid IU and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed being a part of the "Coffee Clutch" that met at the American Legion. More than anything, he loved his family.

Surviving are four sons, Randy (Paula) Alder of Lafayette, Ricky (Mary Ann) Alder of Lafayette, Robby (Lisa) Alder of Logansport and Russell (Kelly) Alder of Logansport; daughter, Janell Alder of Logansport; two brothers, Kevin (Andrea) Alder of Church Falls, Virginia and Kent (Barb) Alder, of Indianapolis; two sisters, Pat (Ron) Shoemaker of Logansport and Nancy Wilson of Florida; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Information

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday April 15th in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Larry Alder will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 16th in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ryan Lewellen officiating.

Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, Logansport.
