Norman L. Koss, 59, 20-year Leatherneck
Southampton-Norman L. Koss, 59, of 22 Noreen Drive, a 10-year quality auditor at Digital Equipment Co., in Westfield and a retired Marine Corps veteran, died on Thursday in Holyoke Hospital.
He retired in 1966 after 20 years service. He served in China, Guam and South Vietnam, and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He received the Navy Commendation Medal.
Born in Ludlow, he lived most of his life in Springfield before moving to Southampton six years ago. He was a member of the Ludlow Fish and Game Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Rita A. Beturne, and a daughter, Donna Lee Koss of Holyoke.
A military funeral will be conducted on Monday morning at Hafey Springfield Chapels and in Holy Name Church, Springfield. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield.
Calling hours will be Sunday afternoon and evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at 57 Suffolk St., Holyoke, 01040, or the American Diabetes Association at 34 Lancaster St., Springfield, 01118.
