Son of Washington Appler and Mary Emma Gilbert. He married Maude Hugill before 1910. In 1910 and 1920, he and Maude lived in Peoria with son, Gilbert, and Mary Appler, William's mother. After William's death, Maude worked as a maid, and by 1940, lived in a home for the aged, dying on 25 Jul 1944.
