Mrs. Mary J. King, 85, wodow of the late Col. John F. King, died at 12:20 o'clock Thursday morning at the family residence, 315 South Walnut street. Death was a result of complications brought on by advanced age.
The late Colonel King was one of the best known residents of Sangamon county, and the family are pioneers of the city.
Mrs. King is survived by six children, three sons and three daughters. The sons are Henry O. King and William B. King, residing in Clear Lake township; and John L. King, of Springfield. The daughters are Mrs. Elma E. Fruit, residing near Brownstown; Mrs. Jessie B. Arnold, of Wapella; and Miss Tillie M. King, of Springfield.
Funeral services were held at the family residence.
Remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery, east of Springfield.
