WOODSTOCK – Marshall Milton Salmon, 89, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Valley Hi Nursing Home in Woodstock.


He was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Success, Ark., to the Rev. James and Pearl (Belk) Salmon.


When he was a young child, the family moved to Aledo, where he grew up. He married Esther York on Aug. 23, 1942, and she preceded him in death in November 1988.


He was a hard worker and was a machinist who retired from Beloit Iron Works.

He served in Germany under Gen. Patton from 1942-45 with the Army during World War II. He was a lifelong member of VFW and a member of Moose Lodge in Harvard. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending time at Moose Lodge playing cards and Bingo.


He is survived by Darrell (Phyllis) of South Beloit, Marsha (Albin) Borgeson of Chippewa Falls, Wis., and Marlena (John) Murphy of Woodstock; his sisters, Beulah (Bob) Wright and Velva (Frank) Lupo; his brothers, Floyd and Harold (Shirley); his 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Esther; his twin daughters, Pauline and Paulette; his sister, Lillie; and his brothers, Jasper, Orvell, Cecil, James and Thomas.


The visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral Friday, May 28, at Saunders & McFarlin Funeral Home, 107 W. Sumner St., Harvard. The Rev. Herbert Priester will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
