Russell D. Saum, 73, of 1185 Old Harrisburg Road died Sunday in Martinsburg (W.Va.) Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was retired from the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Twp.; was an Army veteran of World War II and recipient of a Bronze Star; a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Gettysburg American Legion and VFW posts, Last Man's Club, 40 et 8 Club, American Ex-POWs of World War II, Disabled American Veterans, and Ranger Battalion Association of World War II; and vice president of the Ohio Valley Ranger Chapter.

Surviving are his wife, Nora Frances Russell Saum; two sons, Donald A. of York Springs and Joseph H. of Biglerville; a sister, Jackie Mayer of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Monahan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight in the funeral home.
