Hubert W. Redlinger, age 102, of Washington, Iowa died Wednesday December 17, 2008 at the M.L. McCreedy Home following a decline in health.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 am Monday, December 22nd at the St. James Catholic Church in Washington with Fr. Paul Appel officiating. Visitation will begin 11:00 am Sunday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 Sunday evening. Prayer services will be held 7:00 pm Sunday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for St. James Catholic Church.
Hubert was born May 16, 1906 in Kinross, Iowa the son of Matt J. and Catherine M. (Lutz) Redlinger. He attended school in Washington, Iowa. He served in the 113th Calvary from 1923 until 1927. On June 14, 1930 he was united in marriage to Leonida E. Pieper in Richmond, Iowa.
Hubert lived all of his life in Washington County where he farmed northwest of Washington. He also worked as a substitute mail carrier and postal worker for 41 years. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Washington and was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 80 years where he was a Third and Fourth Degree Knight.
Hubert is survived by three sons: Robert Redlinger and wife Sharon; James Redlinger and wife Mary; Joe Redlinger and wife Karen all of Washington, Iowa; 22 grandchildren; and 56 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leonida in 1997; one grandson – Dan Redlinger, three brothers Ray, Earl, and Matt Redlinger and two sisters Alphonsa Berg and Beatrice George.
