He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Glover; daughter, Jennifer Phelps (Jason); grandchildren, Colin and Gracyn Phelps of Hickory, N.C.; his mother and her husband, Milton; and his sisters, Sandra Kwist (Garry) of Yorktown, Page Hess (Andy) of Newport News, and Rita Nuesser (Andy) of Munich Germany; two nephews, Marcus Nuesser and Justice Hess; along with numerous cousins; Polly Lawrence (aunt) of Lexington, Va., and Cleveland Glover (uncle) of Stuart, Florida.Karen Glover, sister, pre-deceased him.
Wayde was a US Navy veteran and held degrees from Christopher Newport University and Va. Commonwealth University. He was an Eagle Scout and participated in many National Boy Scout Jamborees. His life work was as a counselor, a teacher and a mentor in the substance abuse field. He was an advocate, not only, for the field of substance abuse and addiction, but for the patients of medication assisted treatment. He felt deeply and passionately about recovery.
He was an active participant in many professional associations for counselors and certification in Virginia and nationwide. His most recent position was the program manager for Virginia State Opioid Treatment Authority. He was grateful to the members of the Virginia Transplant Center and his Doctors for their compassionate care.
As a member of Providence United Methodist Church, a memorial service will be held on May 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. The church is located at 4001 New Kent Highway (Rt. 249), Quinton, VA 23141.Memorial donations can be made to National Kidney Foundation, Providence United Methodist Church or Heart of Virginia Council, Richmond, Virginia (B.S.A.).
