Born in Iroquois county, where she made her home most of her life. Mrs. Porter lived in Newton county about 20 years. The former Allie Grace Strickler, she was married Feb. 26, 1891, at Watseka, Ill.
Mrs. Porter belonged to the Iroquis Methodist church. She was a member of the Gleaner's order.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, E. Ray Porter, Kentland; a daughter, Mrs. Ida Weakly, Coldwater, Mich.; two brothers, Louis Strickler, Charleston, Ore., and Frank Strickler and a sister, Mrs. Mattie Pierce, both of Iroquois.
Friends may call at the residence at Iroquois, Ill., after 5 p.m. Monday. Services at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Iroquois Methodist church, Rev. Russell W. Simpson officiating. Burial in Mt. Zion cemetery, north of Kentland.
