Mr. Alexander was a native of West Plattsburgh. He was born on April 6, 1858, a son of Louis and Philomena (Frenier) Alexander. As a child he moved to Dannemora with his parents. On October 18, 1871, he was united in marriage to
Louise Ladue, a daughter of Victoria (Brunelle) Ladue whose husband had been killed in the Civil War. To this union 14 children were born. Nine survive.
In 1873 Mr. and Mrs. Alexander moved to Lyon Mountain, where
Mr. Alexander entered the employ of the Chateaugay Ore and Iron Co., working there until his retirement some years ago.
Mrs. Alexander died on August 22, 1904. Mr. Alexander is survived by six daughters and three sons, Mrs. Jennie Farrell of Irvington, NJ., Miss Lillian Alexander of Troy; Mrs. Victoria Robinson, Mrs. Eva Macy, Mrs. Lauretta Russon,
Bronxville; Mrs. Catherine Dowd, Louis, Silas and Clifford Alexander; 37 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services for Eli Alexander, who died March 17, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Robinson, at Lyon Mountain, were held at St. Bernard's Church, in that village, on Thursday, March 20, at 9:30 o'clock. Rev. Robert J. Arquette, assistant to the pastor, was celebrant
of the solemn Mass of requiem. Rev. Floyd Brown of Chateaugay was deacon; Rev. Donald S. Gallagher, pastor of St. Bernard's, sub-deacon.
The pallbearers were six grandsons of the deceased, Floyd Robinson, Claude Alexander, James Dowd, Otis Macy, James Alexander and Charles Hansen. Interment was made in the family plot in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Yelle, Mrs. Louis Powers of Standish; Robert Dowd of Chateaugay; James Dowd of Mineville; Claude Alexander and Rolland St. Martin of Southbridge, Mass., and
Leonard Macy of Malone.
