Melvin Rex “Buzz” Bruce, (78), of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, on May 16th 2015. No services are planned at this time.

Melvin Rex Bruce was born on January 28th 1937 to Marshall J Bruce and Maxine Elizabeth Bruce, in Junction City, Kansas. He was educated at the Junction City community school. Later, Buzz served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Bremerton. On July 6th 1958, he and Lurlynn Golden were united in marriage in Herington Kansas, making their home in Junction City, where they raised their family until their later divorce. Buzz was the Captain of the Junction City fire department for over 20 years, teaching fire safety and first aid to the local schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and being an outdoorsman. Buzz also had a country western band called, “Buzz & The Blue Boys”.

Left to cherish his memory are his fiancé; Shari Haywood, children; Stuart Marshall Bruce, Boyd Randall Bruce, Cary Kendall Bruce, Rex Melvin Bruce, Melaura Jalayne Guider, grandchildren; Crissey Ann Canida, David Randall Marshall Bruce, Natalie Grace Bruce, Ariana Faith Bruce, Delaney Elizabelth Bruce, Kaylee Dawn Bruce, Ryan Khunnah Bruce, Aidan Alexander Bruce, Reagan Thomas Bruce, Jkendall Patrick Bruce, Joseph James Lee Bruce, Miles JAubrey Guider, Alexa Mariah Lynn Guider, siblings, Shirley Heart, Marilyn Bruce, his ex-wife; Lurlynn Mavis Bruce-Trimmell and 8 great-grandchildren.

In death, he rejoins his parents; Marshall J and Maxine Bruce and his brother; J Marshall Bruce.
