AGE: 96 • Wilmington, DE

Joseph George Galindo, age 96, passed away on May, 18 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Joseph was born in Juarez, Mexico in 1919. He went on to earn a chemistry degree from UCLA. He also served in the 7th Army during WWII. Galindo was badly wounded in France and returned home with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.

After his return home, Joseph worked in a pharmaceutical company and eventually started his own company, Crest Laboratories. It was there that he met his future wife, Helen Coates, and the two were married in 1951. Joseph's company changed hands several times before being acquired by Astra Zeneca.

Joseph had a passion for traveling with family and friends and had the opportunities to visit Africa, Asia, South American, Europe, and all over North America. He also traveled to Oceania.

Joseph lived a long, full life and witnessed many world events including: the first radio broadcast, Prohibition, Lindbergh crossing the Atlantic, the stock market crash, the invention of air conditioning, the Spanish Civil War, the invention of the polio vaccine, and many more.

Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen, and his brothers, Louis, Armando, and Oscar. He is survived by his four children, Tom Galindo, John Galindo, Katherine Grey, and Frances Sundt; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 5 at 11:00AM at Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, DE 19711.
