Novel "Rudy" Boyd, 76, of Columbus, GA, died Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Charles Hasty, Jr. officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road Chapel.
Mr. Boyd was born June 20, 1935 in Columbus, GA, son of the late Novel Rudolph Boyd, Sr., and Allene Tripp Boyd. He received his Master's Degree from Auburn University and was the owner and operator of Boyd's Pest Control. Mr. Boyd was a member of the Rotary Club of Columbus, National Pest Control Association, Past President of the Georgia Pest Control Association, Past President of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association, and served on the Board of Directors of Community Bank. He was also active in his church serving as a deacon and elder.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by his sister, Phoebe Boyd Cliatt.
Survivors include his loving wife, Rita C. Boyd of Columbus, GA; three children, Phoebe Boyd Haney and her husband, Greg, Allene Boyd Pitts and her husband, Will, and Rita Boyd O'Bryan and her husband, Tripp; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA.
