She is survived by 5 children: Dawn Tauscher, Lisa Dickensheets & husband, Dale, Michelle Smith & husband, Tim, Eric Hood & wife, Star and Brent Hood & wife,Vicki, all of Hanover; 8 grandchildren: Jesse, Erin, Shane, Nathaniel, Kaybrea, Austin, Zachary and Logan; 4 great grandchildren: Zachary & Bradley Dickensheets, Jackson Hood and Addison Amoss. Betty was predeceased by her daughter, Robin L. Hood, her infant sister Regina Arter and her brother, C. Joseph Arter.
Betty was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Littlestown where she served on the Bingo committee. She was a 1947 Delone Catholic High School graduate. She was a secretary at Windsor Shoe Co. and was also employed with Colonial Shoe, Freeman Shoe, Jack Tar and the Maple Avenue Middle School office in Littlestown.
Betty enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family and friends. She was a Littlestown resident for most of her life and moved to Hanover for the last few years to a 55+ condominium. Most recently she was a resident of The Brethren Home, New Oxford.
Following a Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, May 22, at 11 A.M. at her church with The Rev. James M. Sterner Celebrant, interment will be in the parish cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Betty’s grandsons: Jesse Dickensheets, Shane & Nathaniel Smith, Austin, Zachary & Logan Hood.
