MARION F. PIERCE
Marion F. Pierce was born on December 12, 1871, at Arcola, Illinois, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgil (Nellie) Owen, near Ashland, Nebraska, on May 11, 1963. He was 91 years of age.

He came with his parents to Nance county in 1885. The family settled on a farm near where the Loup river headgates are now located after the government had closed the Pawnee Indian reservation and opened the Iand to settlement. The family experienced many early pioneer hardships.
On January 15, 1896, he married Miss Kate Howerton at her parents’ home. They moved to a farm near Fullerton where they made their home for nearly 50 years. Mr. and Mrs. Pierce retired from the farm in 1954. Mrs. Pierce died on August 6, 1955.

Mr. Pierce was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving besides Mrs. Owen are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph(Merle) McCray of Fullerton and Mrs. Arthur (Lena) Lampen of Roseville, California; a son, Lester Pierce of Fullerton; a sister, Mrs. Hattie Bilile of Ashland; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Norman Crounse, pastor of the Fullerton Methodist Church, at the Beaman & Palmer Funeral Home here on May 14. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery near Genoa.
