LOUISE AUBREY 96, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, in Pearland, Texas.

Louise was born in San Saba, Texas on December 24, 1918. She was the youngest of 4 children of W. R. Harris and Bessie Byrd Clayton Harris. She had a very close knit family who loved playing games and spending time together. After high school graduation in 1935, Louise attended business school in Austin.

Upon graduation from business school, Louise returned to San Saba and worked for the county. She married her high school sweetheart, R.D. Aubrey on April 5, 1944. R.D. had been stationed in the Aluetian Islands and after they married they were stationed in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and then Little Rock, Arkansas ….then back to San Saba. They moved to Houston around 1949. Louise and R.D. had 2 children: R.D. (Dick) Aubrey, III, and Adrienne Ann. They were both born in San Saba.

Louise worked for Stewart Title Company for 23 years, the last few years as a commercial escrow officer. She was an executive secretary and skilled at typing and shorthand. Her business skills and outgoing personality were a successful combination. She retired in 1985.

Louise always said that her hobbies were her children and later her grandchildren. Kristen and Chad were the light of her life. She was the ultimate Grandmother and their adventures took them all over Houston. They of course had some favorite activities: riding the ponies on Main Street and spending hours upon hours at the Houston Zoo….Luby’s for dinner was also a favorite as was Long John Silvers. She was their biggest fan and attended all their swim meets and ball games. She enjoyed volunteer work at her church (Tallowood Baptist) and also Southwest Area Ministry and Veterans Hospital. She was a people person and loved visiting with family, friends and neighbors. She loved playing cards and games and enjoyed her many trips with her family. Las Vegas was one of her favorite places …..and she enjoyed her cruises to the Bahamas and Alaska. Road trips with her sister Fap (Frances) and her husband Bud; and sister Willibel were always an adventure. She always told people that she and Bud did all the driving. She loved keeping up with family and visiting Julia Mae (her sister-in-law) in Driftwood, Texas. They had a special relationship and spent time together. Rick and Donna and Walt , Shari, and Toby Pehl were family Lou looked forward to visiting with when she saw Julia Mae. Her nieces, Gloria (Goga), Emilie (Mimi), and Janet were like little sisters to her. They were a big part of her life as was her nephew, Bill. Pat was her great niece and enjoyed traveling with Lou and Adrienne in her younger years. All the nieces and nephews continued to either visit her or encourage her as she became home bound. Angie, her great niece was like her first grandchild. They had a wonderful relationship and were always so close. Katie Lou another great niece was her namesake. Her great nephews , Brad and Jay ; and great- great nephews; Billy, Matthew, Weston, Jacob and Dylan were loving and caring to Aunt Lou and always made her feel special at family gatherings.

Being a strong Christian, Louise was a prayer warrior for her family. She kept a bible study diary and in it shared her love of her family, nieces and nephews and grandchildren. She was open about her love of God and her prayers for her family. She always thanked God for His Great Love and for her wonderful family. She always said that she was blessed with good health and realized that everything she had, came from above. She wrote in her REUNION book from 1986 (her 50th high school reunion): My best advice: Live each day to the fullest and live one day at a time. Don’t be afraid to tell your loved ones you love them. My daughter and I tell each other that at least once a day.

Her Mother left her the legacy of Bible Reading and Lou read the Bible through many times. She marked many favorite scriptures in her Bible.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband R.D., and her precious son Dick Aubrey. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Adrienne and husband John Meyer, granddaughter Kristen and partner Jameel Stephens, grandson Chad and wife Jennifer and great- granddaughter Madison, numerous nieces and nephews. Daughter-in-laws; Trish McBride and Kris Abrahamson, numerous friends, and caregivers from Colonial Oaks Assisted Living in Pearland, Texas, and A-med Hospice.
